The Garden

The Garden showcases watercolors and animal wood cutouts by Joe Leonard. This body of work is the artist’s attempt to prune away ideas and opinions on art that were developed during his time studying oil painting in California. The highly technical, representational training had distorted the artist’s opinions as to what was acceptable for art making, both in medium and subject matter. This body of work was an attempt to rediscover an enjoyment for art making that had been lost.
